Several League of Legends champions will be flaunting their stuff around the Rift of a summoner with some new animations and effects included in the release of the latest Patch 9.4.
Riot Games has been periodically updating some of League of Legends older champions animations and effects throughout the last few months and continued to do so in this latest Patch 9.4 with 12 different champions featured in the update. Visual effects, movement animations, and audio effects were the prime focus of these updates, so players might notice those champions roaming around the map with some brand new moves and getting whacked with some more abilities that are modern-looking.
When you think of your favorite league of legends champions in a game of League, you usually include their Q, W, E, and R abilities but, from the perspective of VFX, there is much more than makes up a league character. Xerath, for example, is a being of pure arcane power.
One of the prime goals of visual effects and animations is to convey the fantasy. Imagine you are a sexy gunner named Miss Fortune. When you press R, you want to be shooting sparkling waves of bullets, destroying your enemies while you laugh loudly. You want those bullets to feel much more powerful!

Olaf, Riven, Kennen, and Wukong were the four champions who received the major amount of the changes in the effect and animation updates in the latest patch, though a lot of players who main those characters will more likely have already known the upcoming latest update would change them after the plans were previewed at the start of the month February. Like various other champion updates before them like the ones for Renekton and Dr. Mundo, these updates would not affect the gameplay of the champions but would instead bring their effects and abilities in line with some of League’s more recent new characters. Riot Games videos from before sufficiently broke down what the plans were at that particular time and the official patch notes for the latest update that changed the league of legends champion closely mirror what was in the works back at the start of the month February.
Outside of those larger updates for league of legends champions effects, animations, and visuals, Riot Games also included many smaller updates for different characters movement effects and animations, many of them pertaining to how champions walk and run. If you follow the correct Riot Games employees on Twitter or any other social media platform or keep up with weekly and daily posts, you might have seen some of the videos like the one on the youtube which previewed a new animation for Katarina when she is either stopping or running. The entire list of changes applied to a various different league of legends champions can be seen on the official website of a league of legends and encompasses latest updates for Gragas, Katarina, Lux, Dr. Mundo, Quinn, Shen, Twisted Fate, and Zyra.
